How We Began
Just People began in 1995 after years of hands-on work and volunteering with adults with disabilities. What started as a response to a clear need for safe housing and meaningful social connection has grown into a vibrant community built around support, belonging, and opportunity.
At the heart of that vision is our founder and Executive Director, Becky, whose passion for serving others continues to shape Just People every day. More than three decades later, Becky remains actively involved in the daily life of the organization—working alongside staff, spending time with members, and ensuring every person feels welcomed, valued, and supported. She even lives on the property, reflecting her deep commitment to the community she helped create.
For Becky, Just People has never been just a job—it has always been a calling. Her belief that every person deserves dignity, independence, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to thrive continues to inspire our staff, our families, and the hundreds of individuals whose lives have been touched by Just People over the past 30 years.
Today, that same spirit lives on in everything we do. While our programs have grown and evolved, our mission remains the same: to create a place where people feel at home, build lasting friendships, discover their strengths, and live lives filled with purpose, connection, and joy.
